I reckon if Apple are clever, instead of releasing a single iPhone, they should bring out a range of different iPhone 5. Similar to their range of iPods I guess.
I personally love my iPhone. It changed my life stepping up from my old Nokia brick to an iPhone. But I now own an iPad too, so a lot of the tasks I used to do on my iPhone, I now do on my iPad. Does this change anything? Yes. I now do not need such a large, heavy, bulky phone. If an “iPhone 5 Nano” version became available, I reckon that would be the phone for me. Something, thinner, smaller and lighter, that can easily fit in my pocket, but still has most of the features of a larger phone.
The same goes for people that only want one device that does everything. Something bigger than iPhone, but smaller than iPad. Maybe an “iPhone 5 Maxi.”
Regardless of what Apple have planned, customers will have no idea what’s going to be released until they are just about ready to launch it. It’s quite frustrating to not know the iPhone 5 release date. I’ve still got an old iPhone 3 and would really like to upgrade to iPhone 5.
